Computer Information Science Major

Combine software engineering and business with a computer information science degree

As a computer information science student at SBU, you will take a combination of computer science and business administration courses preparing you to become a highly qualified software engineer with leadership and management skills. SBU's CIS major focuses on software engineering while emphasizing business approaches to software development.

You will get to put your computer science learning into action with hands-on, real-world 项目 creating software solutions for companies and organizations such as Silver Dollar City, BNSF Railway, Ozarks Food Harvest, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Department of Defense contractors, and the 斯普林菲尔德 and Bolivar Chambers of Commerce.

SBU is known as one of the area's leading producers of software engineers and is one of only six evangelical Christian institutions in the nation to have ABET accreditation. Studying computer information science at SBU will equip you for a creative leadership roles in a world of digital information.

SBU's computing programs are dedicated to the intentional integration of Christian faith and academic 纪律. For example, each year at least one senior project is chosen that has an intentional spiritual focus. In the past, these senior 项目 have benefited companies and organizations such as Global Media Outreach, New Tribes Mission and IMB missionaries in Thailand.

诗篇15 — SBU's College of Professional 项目 and the Robert W. 石膏 College of Business have a 诗篇15 initiative, which provides intentional integration of faith and academic 纪律.  Select programs within the College of Professional 项目 are accredited by the 认证 Council of Business Schools and 项目 (ACBSP). 计算机科学 and Cybersecurity programs are accredited by ABET's Computer Accrediting Commission.

SBU's computer science program is the only ABET-accredited program at an evangelical Christian college within a 500-mile radius of Bolivar, and is one of just six evangelical Christian institutions nationwide to receive this accreditation. 单位的网络安全 program is the only ABET-accredited program at an evangelical Christian college within a 800-mile radius of Bolivar, and is one of only two evangelical Christian institutions nationwide to receive this accreditation.
